yellow spot on back of throat.?my throat has been raw red the last couple of days, i've been struggling to swallow too, and this evening i have looked in the mirror to find i have a large yellow spot on my left tonsil, its extremely painful and looks like puss. do i need to go to the doctors? or will it go away with gargling corsodyl and sucking throat sweets?

first of all, you must stop it with all the sweets and cough drops and such. certain microbes thrive on sugar, and you may just be providing them with a reliable source of food. you may have strep throat streptococcus aureus in the throat and you may need an antibiotic, such as amoxicillin. you should get to your doctor and ask him about antibiotic treatment if it persists or gets worse.
