What should I expect when getting my tonsils out?I'm getting my tonsils out in about a week, and an curious as to what it's like. How painful is it? How long is an average recovery? And do you have any tips and pointers on preparation for surgery, or for my recovery?
Also, I have a big party 24 hours earlier. Should I be cautious of how much alcohol I consume?
Thanks guys.

Ouch, i had a friend who took about 3 days to heal and able to eat proper food again, In that time all she ate was porridge and chicken.

No, please do not eat loads of ice cream, we once thought this helped and now realise it does nothing for your healing. Best thing to eat is toast as this scratches ur throat which helps with healing. You will have a sore throat, but take regular pain relief and drink plenty of fluids. Within two weeks, you should feel well again.
