what are some ways to shrink the size of the tonsils to allow for ease in breathing?the tonsils are swollen due to allergies, meds are helping but the nighttime is difficult

There really is no way to shrink tonsils. If they are interfering with breathing... it only makes sense to have them removed. It's a simple surgery and will probably make things a lot easier on you. Hey, look at the bright side - You'd get to eat ice cream and popsicles for a few days.
