Tonsillitis, strep throat? need some help?Yesterday the front of my neck where my throat is started to feel VERY sore. not really my throat but all around my throat on both sides. I cant turn my head side to side and when i take deep breaths my chest will hurt. this morning i took some advil to ease the pain. after, I did some research on tonsillitis and strep throat and it said not to take advil or anything like that because its linked to reye disease so now im freaking out! Am I okay even though i took advil, i need some relief to feel better because its saturday night so im going to have to wait till monday to go to the doctors if im not feeling better. I am 19 years old. Thanks
ok i should have mentioned i dont have a fever, im not sick, dont have a cold, dont have a runny or stuffy nose, my ears dont hurt and i dont have a headache im absolutely fine other than the soreness around my throat

Don't worry about Reyes' syndrome. It is VERY rare and precautions are taken w/children so that someone doesn't develop it. I'm sure you will be just fine. Take tylenol and gargle w/warm salt water. You might have swollen glands along w/tonsillitis or strep. You would usu. get a fever w/either but esp. w/strep. See doctor on Mon. It could also be just a viral infection.

Tonisllitis is a medical term for red and swollen tonsils its a symptom of a viral and a bacterial infection. you need to go to the dr to find out what you have.
