I have swollen tonsils with NO pain. It's just a huge discomfort. What can I do for the swelling? Before I get 1000 answers saying surgery, can someone please tell me of their own experiences and what to do about it now for the discomfort?
Home remedies.
Medicines.

Aspirin, IB, see a doctor. Lack of pain doesn't necessarily mean you're without disease.

gargle with warm water and table salt. do you have a fever even one once in awhile? if you do that's a sign of infection. get to the doc as soon as you can. swollen tonsils can be serious.

I know exactly what you're talking about. About 2 weeks ago I went to see my doctor for a follow up appointment & when he looked inside my throat he said that my tonsils were swollen and also ulcerated. I had really very slight discomfort enough to be ignored. So, when the throat culture came back, it came back positive for a staph infection. Now, I'm taking some antibiotics to get rid of it.
I suggest that you drink some ginger tea to calm the inflammation down. You can also try eating some raw honey, preferably on toast or crackers. Honey is a good antibacterial & an anti-inflammatory agent.
