Home remedies for tonsillitis?Well, just a couple of weeks ago I had tonsillitis and my doctor gave me some antibiotics for it. However, after I was feeling much better, it appears to have made a comeback. It was New Year's, and from where I'm from there was a lot smoke from fireworks, firecrackers and cigarettes, and I did a lot of yelling or screaming so it took its toll on my throat. Now it hurts like hell! Whenever I swallow I can feel the pain up to my ears, and when I cough I can taste some phlegm. It's gross.
Anyway, I don't want to go to the doctor and then get prescribed more drugs...and I'm kinda squeamish with the thought of getting my tonsils surgically removed. I'm scared of hospitals.
I've been eating a whole lime everyday in hopes of it curing my tonsillitis. I eat it like how one eats an orange. You think that would help? Any other home remedies that would cure my tonsillitis?

if you trust or know about homeopathic treatment, go for that. believe or not that is not only effective also u dont need any surgery for ur problem.this is my personal experience and medicine is sweet too. good luck....get well soon:)

I had the same problem when I was fifteen. I would take one course of antibiotics, and even if I didn't yell and hang around smoke, the sore throat woud return within a week or two. It does sound like you are infected again. I tried lots of vitamin C too. After about 8 months of having off-and-on infections, I gave in and had them removed. It is a very minor proceedure, and at that time I was TERRIFIED of hospitals, but it was the only way for me. It wasn't bad at all. Not even close to what I expected. Anyway, I think that I've only had two sore throat episodes since and it has been many years ago. If you've only had tonsillitis once or twice then another round of antibiotics may be all you need. Don't automatically think surgery unless this infection keeps recurring. If it is a serious problem, though, limes won't fix it, and you need not fear a tonsillectomy.

I used to get tonsillitis 3 or 4 times a year.
I had the surgery and my problem was forever cured.
There was discomfort after the surgery - but I'm very glad I had it.
