If you are prone to anxiety and panic attacks, then yes. If the swelling in your tonsils makes you feel like you can't breathe, then you can panic and go into a full blown panic attack. Anxiety attacks happen when you get a physical symptom (harmless) and your mind "blows it out of proportion". You can develop other physical symptoms and think you are having a heart attack, etc. I once had a cold and felt like I couldn't breath. I began to panic and my heart was racing, I was sweating, I lost control of my bodily functions, and my limbs went completely numb. I called 911 and the paramedics took me to the ER and I was told I just had a panic attack. It's amazing what your mind can do to your body!
