Been on antibiotics for 56 hours and still running low grade fever and feeling worse by the minute?

Hi,I did the following:
Been on antibiotics for 56 hours and still running low grade fever and feeling worse by the minute?I have had symptoms of some kind of infection four days now. I went to the doctor on day two. He said it could either be strep or a sinus infection, but didn't perform any kind of test. He put me on antibiotics, which I started 56 hours ago. I have been very good about taking them (same time every day, no dairy for a few hours before and after taking the medication), but my symptoms are not getting better. If anything, they are getting worse. I am still running a low grade fever, and my throat looks worse and worse every time I look at it. My right tonsil is twice the size of my left tonsil, and they both have open sores all over them. I called my doctor earlier this afternoon after reading somewhere that if you are not feeling better in 24-48 hours you should call your doctor's office. I was trying to explain to him that I have a weird history with antibiotics (allergic to three kinds) and sometimes they don't work for me and I have to try another kind. I also tried to tell him that the last time I had strep, I completed a ten day course of antibiotics, felt much better, then crashed (was running over 104 temp and lost consciousness) and had to be rushed to the ER. He totally blew me off and just kept saying that I need to complete the course of antibiotics. My throat hurts so badly that I can't eat or swallow, and have to carry around a cup to spit in so I don't have to swallow. What should I do if even my doctor won't listen to me? Am I really just being paranoid, or should I be concerned?
Yes, I am truly allergic to penicillin, sulfa, and ceclor. I get hives and my face swells.
New symptom... mouth sores on the inside of my cheeks. Not very visible but quite sore. This sounds viral doesn't it?

Why are you letting the doctor blow you off? Put your foot down and stand up for yourself. Go back and get cultured to find out what the organism is so it can be treated properly. Do you have a true antibiotic allergy or is it that you experience some of the potential adverse reactions? There's a huge difference. So go back and get angry if you have to.

your infection may not be bacterial it could be viral, and antibiotics will do nothing for viral infections. Go see another doctor, you need to have your throat cultured by doing that they can id the bug that is infecting you. You are not being paranoid, you are the only person that knows your body, your doctor cannot feel your pain in your throat or know your symptoms. You need to get this taken care of before it turns into something A Lot worse.
