Swollen tonsil?like for a month I had a sore thorat off and on. I kept thinking I was going to get a cold but never did. I'm not sure if this is related to my sore throat now but just givig all the facts I can. Anyways on Saturday my throat started hurting all day like I was going to get a cold again. On sunday it didn;t hurt in the morning but it did in the evening, same with Monday and Tuesday were the same. But then yesterday it hurt all day and it was only the left side. Same with this morning.
Last night I looked in my throat and saw a small bump, so i had my dad look in my throat and he said my tonsil was swollen. It wasn't reall obvious though, it took a little bit of searching to find the abnormalty.
I do have allergies though (nasal drainage) and it was warmer than usual on Monday and Tuesday. Could this be the cause?
And lastly, how serious is this? Will I have to have my tonsills removed? Will i need antibiotics? Can I go to school today?

Hi,
Usually you don't have to get your tonsils out unless you have 3 inflamed episodes a year.
If it is tonsils, you can certainly go to school. It is not contagious. You might feel tired though.
Since you have been swollen for a month you should go to the doctor. If it is tonsils, you will get antibiotics.
