Penicillin not working for swollen tonsils after 3 days?So I went to the hospital 3 days ago because my tonsils were swollen and it was very difficult to swallow. They gave me some pain pills, an antibiotic shot, and a penicillin prescription. Today I woke up feeling the same as day one, before I even went to the hospital and my ear is making fizzle noises. Should I start getting nervous since it's been 3 days with no relief? I looked in the mirror and I'm pretty sure they're more swollen than before. When will I ever fell better?

You definitely should go back to the doctor because obviously the antibiotics arent working and they need to put you on something else. The longer you wait the infection will get worse and you do not want that at all. So HURRY!!!

Gurgle with warm water and salt
Drink lots of water
Increase Vitamin C
Rest a lot
if this fails u go for stronger antibiotics tell ur doctor about it that ur having tinitus

it depends what kind of infection you have. If it is caused by bacteria the penicillin should probably be working by now but if it is viral antibiotics wont work at all and you will just have to wait until your body fights it off. Did the dr take a swab to confirm it was bacterial?
If you think you are getting worse it is best to go back to the doctor or call the health line.

Your expectations are unrealistic. The time to when you feel well is not notably shortened by antibiotic treatment. With penicillin, the average is four days with antibiotic treatment, four and a half without; and even that difference goes away when pain pills are prescribed. Also, those are averages, with some doing better and some taking longer. The point of taking the antibiotics is to prevent complications, not to effect a miracle.
