How long do viral blisters usually last in a child's mouth? My 7 year old has been running a fever for 5 days. She developed blisters on her palate, tongue, and gums 4 days ago. Her doc says it is tonsillitis and gave me amox...... The blisters are apparently viral? And the antibiotics are not helping and I have now noticed her cheeks are looking swollen. She will not eat, not even ice. I can get her to drink room temp water but thats all. Does anybody know how long this lasts? Or has a child with these symptoms?

Those take about 10 days to clear. and yes that is viral, the antibiotics are probably not needed.

Hope he got the diagnosis right. My daughter had "trench mouth" and the doctor gave her Gentian Violet, she was in pain for a few days and the gentian violet looked terrible.

Good luck
