Can you get tonsillitis without tonsils?

Other people asked questions on various topics, and are still
waiting for answer. Would be great if you can take a sec and
answer them
Can you get tonsillitis without tonsils?I know tonsillitis spreads from person to person by contact with the throat or nasal fluids of someone who is already infected. But what if the other person already has had their tonsils removed? Are they immune to the bacteria/virus, or does it affect them in a different way?

No. Tonsillitis is inflammation of the tonsils, and if there are no tonsils, they therefore cannot be inflamed. However, the germs that cause this could infect other parts of the throat.

No, with no tonsils you are unable to contract tonsillitis. You can however get laryngitis, pharyngitis and other viral and bacterial throat infections.

It wont be tonsilitis then. It's just sore throat.

I used to get throat infections all the time. About four or five times a year. It was a pain taking antibiotics and feeling awful for a few days. I was told by a bunch of people to have my tonsils out and they would stop. Snag is, once you hit thirty then it's really hard to find a doctor that will take them out- they don't like the risk of complications from older people.

My doctor told me that even if I got my tonsils taken out that the infections might come back, but that probably having them out would stop them.

As an aside: my throat infections stopped after I stopped drinking milk. I had been told that this has helped other people too. There's not a shred of evidence that this is what made my infections stop, but I'm not drinking milk anyway. This makes me like one of those autism/innoculation type people but I swear- they come back when I start drinking milk. Um- actually whole milk. I'm a bodybuilder and still take protein shakes with skim milk, that doesn't seem so bad.

Short answer is: No.
