Could be strep throat. The white spots are usually a good indicator. Go to the doctor and they can do a strep test to find out for sure.

you possibly have strep throat, you should see a doctor for medication

Devon
You most likey have strep throat.

Fat N' Stupid
Could also be mono. Either way, white spots = doctor.

Ooh nasty sounds like tonsilitis to be honest. Are your toils quite puffed up? Either way if you go see your doctor they will most likely give you antibiotic which will clear it up in no time. In the mean time try gargling with dispersable aspirin (but don't swallow it) or warm salty water if you don't have any or can't take aspirin and take paracetamol to help ease the pain.

I Love You Man
I agree with the other responses that said "Strep". White spots are the classic symptom and you need antibiotics. Don't let it go or it could turn into a worse infection.
