acute tonsillitis is where your tonsils become inflamed and once treated goes away but not all the time. chronic means that you have problems with them flaring up alot and usually means removal how long they last depends on fast you get treatment for them good luck

The acute one is accompanied with a high fever and lasts for a shorter time. It is treated by rest, warm fluids and antibiotics. The chronic one lasts for a longer time and is treated by tonsillectomy
