Very sore throat but tonsils aren't swollen?Yesterday I could feel my throat getting sore, and this morning I woke up with an extremely sore throat. It really hurts to swallow. Normally, whenever I have gotten a sore throat before, my tonsils have been swollen. However, my tonsils are not swollen at all. Is it normal to have a very sore throat without swollen tonsils?
Thanks

Yes. I've had sore throats w/o tonsil swelling before.

And, you have a sore throat. Yes, it is quite normal to have a sore throat without swollen tonsils. Treat like a sore throat, by gargling and using hard candies to suck on or lozenges to provide relief, and make sure to take aspirin/tylenol and drink plenty of fluids.

It appears that you have throat infection. It may be due to some allergy also. You put some salt in lukewarm water and gargle three-four times a day. If not cured, please see a good Doctor.
