Tonsillectomy done this morning...but no pain?! Help?Got my tonsils out this morning (they were huge; graded a size 4) and I have a sore throat when I swallow and that's it. No headaches, no ear pains, and only minor discomfort. I'm 20 years old and I was expecting a lot worse and I hear the second and third days are the worse. I'm not even taking medication right now.
Will the pain sneak up on me in the next few days and make my life miserable!? I'm scared!
Edgar!
I had my tonsillectomy just back in april, and I had no pain 'til around day 4.
In fact, I could eat spaghetti alfredo the 2nd day after, and a few fries (just not the hard ends) but after that I had a huge problem eating.
Some people may tell you to crush up your t3's (or whatever pain killers your taking) into apple sauce. I am going to tell you NOT to do that. Doing that made me want to throw up, it was repulsive.
My recommended cutting up the pills very small, about the size of the @ symbol on your keyboard and pushing them into the middle of jello cut into cubes. that way you don't feel or taste them :)
But that's if you even have pills for painkilers.
I didn't throw up 'til the 2nd week after, and that was because one of my stitches had dissolved and fell out [Eww]
The most painful time for me was when I would wake up in the middle of the night, 'cause my throat was all dried out.
Do not take halls (regular) if you're going to take any throat losenges take halls breezers, they are smooth and pleasant compared to regular losenges (which felt overwhelming and just irritated me).
The pain might sneak up on you at times, but if you take your meds it should go away within 1/2hr at most. (My night time meds kicked in after 5 min, that was very helpful)
