Time for a 2nd opinion? Canker sore (ulcer) on inflamed tonsil?I've had (what I think is a series of viruses) for months... My tonsils are severely inflamed (pus looking stuff is secreting from them). I went to the doctor about a month ago and he told me to use nasal saline spray and that it was a virus.
Now, my ears are hurting terribly, my throat pain mostly subsided from horrible soreness to now just tenderness. I think I have swollen glands (I press the area gently and I feel lumps that are extremely tender to the touch).
NOW there is a canker sore on my tonsil (I've had them before, I know exactly what they are, just never on my tonsil). I tried to apply Orajel but because of its location I gag when the paste and wand are applied.
Is it time for a 2nd opinion? Is this more than a virus?
Oh and the canker sore is quite large - larger than say, the surface area of the end of a pencil eraser.

This sounds a bit more complex than a GP's normal field of expertise. I would ask for a referral to a good ENT specialist if I were you. It's not reasonable to suffer this long without some relief.
