Swollen lymph Nodes or Tonsils?

Other people asked questions on various topics, and are still
waiting for answer. Would be great if you can take a sec and
answer them
Swollen lymph Nodes or Tonsils?O.K. heres the deal, I have got a stopped up nose really bad, and some drainage, but NO SORE THROAT! I had my mom feel of my neck to see if she thought my glands were swollen, and she said that where my glands were they didn't feel swollen, but she said she could feel what felt like my Tonsils(MY tonsils are normally hudge anyway on a normal basis). So I guess what my question is is this, Could it be possible that she really could feel my tonsils on the outside since they are so big, or if it is lymph nodes could they be swollen from my stuffy nose, and nasal drainage? I was just wondering cause I have this overwhelming fear of having any kind of cancer, and Im worried. Please help me! Thank You!

My daughter's were huge and I had them removed. However, that's not something you normally feel on the outside of your body, like swollen lymph nodes.

You have lymph nodes underneath your jaw line and behind your ears. My guess is that your mom really felt your lymph nodes and mistakenly thought that your tonsils was what she was feeling.

Are you having trouble swallowing or breathing? People with enlarged tonsils have trouble even swallowing water and have trouble breathing. You probably had an upper respiratory infection earlier this year that has now settled into your nose and sinuses. I would contact your doctor to get put on a course of antibiotics. That's probably all that is needed to help make you feel better. You can rest easier knowing this is not cancer.

I went through a twenty year period in my life where I got tonsillitis every year - without a miss, every year. Once I had it bad enough I couldn't swallow water. I believe the doctor told me more than once that the swelling of the tonsils was evident just looking at me. The easiest way for the doctor to confirm it was the tonsils was by simply looking in my mouth! You can see the tonsils and they would be inflamed and sore, as well as enlarged. Go to the doc fo an easy exam and maybe he/she will prescribe a course of antibiotics, usually for ten days. Every time this happened to me, the doctor would say "this has happened to you too often, when the infection and swelling go down, they are coming out!" Then, when the swelling/infection was gone, he'd say "well at twenty something, the risk of bleeding is too great, they're okay now so we'll just leave them alone." Then the next year I repeated. Good luck with yours.

P.S. I'm 66 now and I still have them!

It is lymph nodes, you probably have a viral infection.
