Sore throat, swollen tonsils?

Sore throat, swollen tonsils?a few days ago i had an aweful head ache and my ear hurt alot, i dad said i had an ear infection and gave me ear drops to help the infection, now my ears dont hurt and my head has stopped hurting aswell, although now my throat is killing and my tonsils are swollen, he said that the infection in my ear probably spread to my throat. what can i do to take the swelling down and help my throat feel better(if hurts to swallow, even just my spit)my brother had the same exact symptomps as me acouple days before me(his throat still is slightly hurting) and he went and got a strep test and it was negitive,i am pretty sure its not strep. how can i make it stop hurting and maybe bring down the swelling?

So
get you a glass of warm salt water and swish it around in your mouth and throat and spit it out it. see if that works.

Here are some suggestions for you. Hope you feel better soon!!

1. Take Advil or Tylenol according to the directions to help relieve pain/inflammation.
2. Suck on throat lozenges which contain a numbing ingredient (benzocaine or phenol). Numbing
throat sprays are good too.
3. Gargle and spit with salt water several times a day. Just a teaspoon in a glass of water.
Stir till the salt dissolves. Too much salt isn't good. May make the throat feel more sore.
4. Sucking on popsicles, crushed ice, sherbet, sorbet or water ice feel good to a raw throat.
5. A teaspoon or two of honey in a warm cup of herbal tea.
6. Sipping on warm chicken broth.
