Sore throat and white stuff on tonsils/back of throat?friday night i started getting a sore throat, it felt kinda swollen and dry...i was outside in an partly wooded area for over 3 hours so i thought it was just allergies. but when i woke up saturday i had a horrible sore throat just on the left side and it's been bad for 2 days now. when i swallow or yawn it hurts really bad on the left side of my throat and kinda up into my left ear. i finally got out a flashlight this afternoon and looked in my throat and i have white stuff in the back of my throat on the left side..i think that's my tonsil?
anybody know what this could be? do i need to go to the doctor? i'm planning on it if i don't feel any better tomorrow.
also, i don't have any other symptoms like cold symptoms or a fever.

Strep throat,get to the doctors.

Your symptoms sound like strepe throat, although mononucleosis has similar symptoms. You'll need to see a doctor to get a prescription for either one. I've had strepe throat several times so I know what you're going through. Once you start the medication it won't take long to start feeling better. Call your doctor tomorrow.
