side effects of tonsils removal?my ent doctor suggested that i have my tonsils removed. my tonsils r big, kinda blocks my throat, gets infected often and it hurts a lot during that. doctor said, medicines will take care of the infection but to reduce the size operation is the only way. i also have a little trouble breathing while sleeping which will also go away after this operation, says he.
i have heard about various side effects of this tonsil operation, such as- height didnt increase after the operation, and singing voice got ruined, etc.
does it really have an effect on height increase? thats not my big concern though becaue i'm 22, i dont think my height is going to increase naturally any more...
My BIGGEST concern is my voice, i LOVE music, i LOVE singing and i take singing lessons. is there ANY chance that my voice would get screwd up after this operation? what possible effects can it have on my voice? this is really scaring me.
please leave helpful answers and anything u know on this topic, thank you.

I think you need to weight up how much of a problem they cause now and how much your life will improve after??
Tonsils are actually a major part of your immune system.Basically things that are harming your body get filtered into your lymph system and your tonsils are like the last filter before it goes into your blood stream, the gunk comes out and gets swallowed. If you have constant infections maybe there is somthing bothering your body on a permenant basis,as your tonsils are working over time.Taking the tonsils away means that filter gets taken away which would be your last option i'm guessing as you want to avoid surgery.Maybe there's somthing in your diet or day to day life that your intolerant to?Dairy, wheat or a chemical?or i know someone who swam alot and his system was overloaded by chlorine affecting his immune system.Do you get tonsil stones?google them if you dont know what they are?
...or if you have just inherited large tonsils you'll have to list the pros and cons of surgery and see what option comes out best,i dont think having them removed is detrimental but i would try everything else first .....good luck!
