I have tonsil stones and decided to get surgery to get the tonsils removed.?I know it's painful and all of the disadvantages. What were the ADVANTAGES for you? I'd like to hear some good stories to go into surgery with a halfway decent attitude about the whole thing. Thank you in advance to all that share.

Sorry bra. My little sister (18) had it done last week. She developed a severe infection and is on iv right now. Most other countries besides the US, where we have the most outdated medical practices on earth, don't recommend it.

I agree with the first post. I was also 30 and for me, it wasnt that painful. I lost 10 pounds from eating soft foods (although I put it right back on once I was better) and I got time off work! Woo Hoo. I dont have sore throats anymore. I am glad I got them out!

I was in the 5th grade. My throat was really sore for about a week. The first few days i was in a daze. You cannt eat much with out it hurting you and ice cream doesnt help either. its not fun. but after the first week you start feeling better and able to project your voice. Basically if you have ever had a bad sore throat then thats what you'll feel. Its not like you cant move and feel horrible!!!
I had a sore throat straight for about 4 months and it took me 2 weeks to recover from the surgery and the next time i had a sore throat was 3 years later from a cold. and when i say recover i mean felt completely normal and could yell and eat any food i wanted. its not that scary, you go to sleep and wake up. and its done.

hi,
i am 20 now and was 14 when got my tonsils removed, it is okay to be worried because its a surgery, it is painful, and extremely uncomfortable, but if i could go back , i would definetly do it again (w/o a doubt). I always had an infection to the point where i had the infection year-round but had no fever nor a cold, or anything almost "immune". i had bad breath and constantly stones in my throat. after the surgery i do not have any bad breath, i barely get a cold, i almost never get sore throats and no more stones!!!!!!!. you will be fine, and remember you already decided you were going with the surgery, so why dont you start thinking positive? its only like 30 minutes.... its ok... no worries.
hope this helps!!

I had my tonsils out when I was 17 and I am 29 now.. Let me tell you, IT IS THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE DONE. I used to get tonsillitis all the time and it felt like torture. GO FOR IT!!!
