How many times do you get strep before you get your tonsils taken out?I've had strep about... (hold on I gotta do the math) 30 times. Not all in the same year, but over all the times I've hed it. How many times do you get strep before your tonsils are taken out? Is it only if you have it a lot in the same year, or just the number you've had in your lifetime?

I have no idea. But if you do its not that bad. Just a little pain when you wake up then it stops 3 minutes later. You get to eat lots of ice cream :D

You usually need to be diagnosed with tonsillitis many times in a one year period before they consider removing your tonsils. Less common is removal for chronic strep. Your doctor would be the one to ask if this would be a consideration for you.

i had strep 17 times in one year b4 the doctor even suggested i had them taken out an i had them taken out an havent had strep yet ant that was 6 years ago...
