How long to you have to stay int he hospital after having your tonsils removed?My boyfriend is going to get his tonsils removed over spring break. (that sucks, right?) Well, do you have to stay in the hospital for 2 days at least? Do you have to stay at all? If you do, how long?

It's usually an outpatient surgery and you can go home the same day as long as their aren't any complications.

I would like to expand on pugswife's response. Even though this is usually an outpatient procedure, you are not ready to have fun or be normal for a few days. People over 16 will have more pain and discomfort than children. Pain medicine, soft food and rest and TLC would probably be normal for 5 days.
