how long does strep throat last without an antibiotic?i have a white ball on my tonsils and I'm pretty sure it's strep throat. I'm too cheap/poor to get an antibiotic for this so i've been taking tylenol pm every night to try and help it.
Will it go away after a while if i just wait it out?

It will become a more serious health issue if not treated. it won't go away on its own. See a doctor.

what makes you sure its strep??! even the best doctor can't decide that without a microscopic exam!!
if its simple tonsillitis it will go on its own, but its a great problem if it wasn't so, else some strains of strep may cause rheumatic fever or renal disease.
so you have to go to a doctor and he will decide what is best for you.

People have died from untreated strep infections. Get to a doctor. He will probably put you on ampicillin which is really cheap. Ask for a quick strep test.

Just go to a walkin clinic and tell them about your throat and ask them to test you for strep throat (bacterial) and mono (viral infection)

Strep if not treated properly with antibiotics can leave you with seriious complications, such as rheumatic fever & other conditions that can alter your life. Antibiotics are not that expensive--WalMart & ShopKo pharmacies have many drugs available for only $ 4 for a prescription. Consult your doctor & ask him to find a drug thatt is effective AND included in the $ 4 program..
