Can your tonsils grow back? And if so, do they or should they be removed?

Can your tonsils grow back? And if so, do they or should they be removed?Hi, i'm 17 years old and when I was 9 I got my tonsils taken out. This past year or so I have been getting extremely extremely painful sore throats which include a temperature. I went to the doctor to see and he said could be tonsilitus (even though I don't have any!), throat ulcers and it's a virus so take panadol.
That lasted for about a week. Then recently I got the same again; minus the fever, all in the throat, can't swollow etc. Thought it might be ulcers but I noticed two funny shaped lumps where my tonsils are supposed to be, like half grown ones or something.

Anywayyy my question is, if they have grown back should I have to get them removed seeing as I have before? Or will I be right this time?

Thanks.

It is possible for tonsils to partially grow back. During a tonsillectomy, most of the tonsils are removed. However, some tissue often remains, so tonsils can occasionally regenerate — although they probably won't grow back completely or to their original size. Whether or not you would need surgery again depends on how badly and how often they get infected.
