Can stress cause tonsillitis?I seem to be getting tonsillitis a lot lately ever since I have graduated from school. I have been stressed because of job seeking. I can't find any work. And the other week my grandpa had a heart attack and as soon as I found that out I got tonsillitis. (He is fine now) And every time I get my period I stress over that and now because of that I have a sore throat and swollen tonsils. Could stress be the reason for this?

Stress can lower your immune system response allowing the virus that causes tonsillitis to take hold. But it can't form a virus out of no where

I'm sorry that you are having a bad time of it. Stress can, indeed, lower your resistance to infection. Tonsillitis is caused by infection. I would try getting 8 hours sleep every night, drinking a lot of water, increasing my vitamin C intake (think citrus fruits and juice), and sucking on some zinc lozenges. If that doesn't help, it might be time to let a surgeon take out the trouble makers.
