Can strep throat antibiotics help mono?

These are useful and collceted by kong!
Can strep throat antibiotics help mono?My throat is hurting really bad right now from mono, and I have antibiotics from when I had strep throat. Would it help ease the pain if I took them?

NO!

Antibiotics are NOT a pain relief.

You should NEVER have left over antibiotics, if you do this means you took them incorrectly and have put everyone at a higher risk of an antibiotic resistant strain.

Prescribed medications should ONLY be used for the condition for which they were prescribed.

Diane
No, antibiotics will not help because mono is a viral infection and antibiotics only cure bacterial infections. A virus has to run its course. You can try warm salt water gargles, tylenol or ibuprofen for your throat pain. Hang in there, hope you feel better soon. (:
