Tonsil stone?

Hi,I did the following:
Tonsil stone?I have a tonsil stone lodged right at the back of my throat and it is becoming uncomfortable. I have a strong gag reflex so all my attempts to remove it have been unsuccessful. How can I get rid of it? Do I see a doctor or a dentist..?

If you go to the dentist you will probably just end up getting refered to an ear nose throat doctor.
So, i would just call either your regular doctor, or just try to get in w/ an ent docotr.
Good luck. Is it painful?

Tonsils are soft tissues in your throat that are supposed to fight infection. What is a "tonsil stone?" If I had something bothering me in the back of my throat I would go to a doctor (not to a dentist because there are no teeth back there) but I have no idea what that stone thing is about.

Try gargling warm water, then cough occasionally (but not too hard or too much, you will just end up with a sore throat) and it should come out when it is ready. I know how annoying they are, especially now because it is allergy season, good luck!

I get them a lot. I have very large tonsils and the "stone" is actually calcium. I eat a lot of dairy so I have a huge calcium intake. I have been to the doctor and he removed some by scraping my tonsils with a spatula (not good if you have strong gag reflex!) But they're not harmful nor uncommon. To remove it, most likely you will have to push it out of your tonsil with a spatula, good luck!

Gargle for several minutes, several times with warm water. My sister has them often and she does that.
