how do you know if tonsillitis is caused by a virus or bacteria ?

Hi,I did the following:
how do you know if tonsillitis is caused by a virus or bacteria ?i woke up this morning with swollen tonsils with white spots and a headache, a mild fever feeling.the headache and mild fever have gone now but it still hurts when i swallow i think its tonsillitis witch i have ever had be for as i am away for christmas i DONT HAVE A DOCTOR i will just like to know what
antibiotics should i get?

Try gargling with a mild antiseptic, if no improvement then go to your doctor when you can. Aspirin in warm water could help, check that you are not allergic to it first though Good Luck

the white stuff is bacteria. go to the drugstore (or call) and ask the pharmacist what is best for you or you should really get to a doctor before it worsens..
