Remedies 4 white tonsils, painful swallowing; persistent but worse at night?I do not have a fever, and everything else in my body feels fine, but my tonsils are white, and its painful to swallow. This has persisted for about a week now. The weird thing is, it is especially painful at night. Can anyone explain that? I'm not quite sure what this is. Any home remedies?

Could be strep. I had it all the time when i was younger and ended up having my tonsils out. If they are white, that's usually puss. You need to go to a dr and get a strep test. It wont go away unless they give you med for it. And its contagious. Mine also used to hurt alot more at night. Something i never did figure out.

Call the doctor! Anything lasting longer than a few days needs medical attention!

When I was a child, many years ago, my mom always made us gargle with hot salty water and take a laxative when our throats would first get sore. Now, I give my kids a liquid Echinacea and Goldenseal combination, which you can sometimes find at your local pharmacies, but most the time at your local health food store. If given at the first sign of a sore throat, it will stop it in it's tracks. Hold the liquid in your throat for as long as possible before you let it go down. It can also help clear up a bad sore throat if already in progress. Also, if you can find it, take garlic pearls/gel tabs because garlic is a natural cleanser and anti-biotic. Also for preventative measures, always take a good multivitamin each day and drink plenty of water. Hope his helps!

At night, we often open our mouths when asleep. Dries out tissue.
I think infection. Can't think of any home remedies. You've had this a week and would be better by now if you saw Dr. You need antibiotic.
