Bad breath, maybe due to tonsil stones. Could I get a tonsillectomy?I'm 18 and my mum recently pulled me to the side and told me she'd noticed my breath wasn't smelling very good, and was wondering why because I brush, use mouth wash but my breath doesn't stay fresh long. It's really embarrassing, and after sulking and sitting thinking about why this could be, the only thing I can put it down to is tonsil stones, which I've had for about a year now. They're really annoying and smell revolting so thats why im assuming this could be contributing to my bad breath. I was just wondering what I could do to get rid of these things :( my sister had all sorts of problems and had both her tonsils and adenoids removed when she was younger, but I've heard you need to have had tonsilitus 6 times for them to consider you for surgery. Could an ear nose and throat specialist not organise a tonsillectomy for me? thank you

yes the tonsil stones are most likely whats causing your bad breath.
its not true that you have to have tonsillitis 6 times before they will take your tonsils out.
just make an appointment iwth an ENT (ear, nose, and throat dr) and tell them why you want your tonisls out and they will most likely be fine with doing it.
