White bumps on right tonsil What could this be? 2 yr old?I noticed tonight when I was helping my daughter(2 1/2 yrs old) brush her teeth. When she opened really wide for the first time ever I seen that her tonsil is swollen and it has white bumps on it.She doesn't have fever. She has had a small cough for about a week and a half and the doctor said to give her Delsym for no more than a week. That has subsided but she still has it a little. She said her throat hurt back when I called the doctor about the cough.Could this be strep throat or tonsillitis?(spelling?) I am not so sure on the strep because of no symptoms such as fever etc.
I am calling the doctor first thing in the morning but I just wanted some idea as to what this could be.I have three children and this is the first I have ever seen something like this.
I also posted this in health infectious diseases.Didn't know which one I would get more of a response from.
Thanks everybody I was researching and I am thinking tonsillitis. This is nothing compared to strep throat she has had it several times and it was never like this.
And for the water yes she drinks plenty of water. She takes water over anything to drink.
Thanks everybody.I really appreciate your opinions.
She has been off the Delsym for about 4-5 days now

My daughters all have had it..My 9 year old and 3 year old have actually gotten their tonsils out because they get it so often!! My 6 year old will be getting hers out after Christmas..You just need some antibiotics and you will be good to go :)

Is she drinking enough water? This can be caused by dehydration. If it doesn't get better after having her drink enough water; it is probably tonsillitis. If they are inflaimed then that is a sure indicator.

I wwould say it is strept throat or something related to that. I've had strept throat multiple times and wouold notice white bumps on my tonsil.
This is just a posibility, def see a doc she needs antibiotics.
eye 4 n eye
tonsillitis
Thumbellina
white patches indicate strep
white dots are pus..tonsils filter infections and viruses from our body
and they get infected abcesses

This would be strep throat. I have had it many many times and white dots on the tonsils are a dead give away.

I highly think that it may be tonsillitis because white bumps are usually the first symptom. If she gets a fever in the next 24 hours, i recommend taking her to the ER. Check your infants back and skin for any rash, or abnormal coloring. Discontinue the use of Delsym with your doctors permission if possible, because this may just as well be an allergic reaction, this happens sometimes in cough medicines. I doubt whether this is strep throat but just in case, i recommend contacting your doctor immediately. Do not give your child any salty or spicy foods until you have informed your doctor. Give her as much liquids as possible.

It sounds like tonsillitis...My son had symptoms like that and it was always tonsillitis and finally at three years old they took his tonsils out.

I could be either strep or tonsillitis. I had both many times growing up. And the only symptoms I had was a cough and swollen pussy tonsils. You're doing the right thing by getting her into the dr. as soon as possible. They will probably do a swab of her throat and prescribe her some anti-biotics. Just make sure you are giving her plenty of fluids and rest. Good luck! Hope she gets better! Sick babies are no fun :(
