What can I do about tonsillitis early?A close friend of mine recently had a severe bout of tonsillitis that lasted nearly a week. I might just be paranoid, but I'm starting to detect a slightly sore throat and upon feeling the lymph nodes in my neck, slight soreness. If this is indeed the infection beginning to take hold, is there anything I can do now to curb it before it gets bad? If I even have it?

I would go see a doctor because if it is tonsillitis you will need antibiotics, I wouldn't wait because it could be more serious than just a sore throat you could even have strep.
I hate doing this myself but to be sure it isn't just a sore throat I would try gargling warm salt water.

Make sure you get lots of sleep and vitamin c. If your tonsils get really bad and you can see white spots on them then you should definitely go to the doctor as although they are now rarely removed they can probably give you antibiotics for it.

You can only treat tonsillitis with antibiotics, but the only way to prevent tonsillitis is to have the tonsils removed.

My son suffered acute tonsillitis since Dec. 2007. He suffered with high fever every month & even twice a month. Searching for an answer with prayers is the best we can do as parents.
