What are the white patches on my tonsil? No pain...?A few days ago, my left tonsil was slightly inflamed and had 3 small white spots. The next day, the tonsil seemed to be less inflamed, but then there were 6 white spots. Later that day, the 6 spots spread into one giant spot, and spread down my tonsil.
The white stuff is pus, not TONSIL STONES, because I can wipe off most of the excess. But it's definitely spreading, and I can see teeny tiny white spots starting on my right tonsil now.
I don't think it's strep, or anything serious because there is no pain at all, no fever, no other symptoms. It's just mildly uncomfortable to swallow because that left tonsil is still a little inflamed. My right one isn't inflamed at all.
Any opinions?
Oh, I first noticed it last Thursday, if that helps. So, it's been 5 days and still no pain or other symptoms.

Most likely you have a virus or a bacterial infection. It is possible you have strep and have not gotten the other symptoms yet.

Viruses don't tend to cause pus on tonsils. You definitely are fighting off something bacterial. If you are still feeling okay and don't have any pain in your throat or swollen glands, you are probably going to fight it off w/o antibiotics. If you start to feel feverish, become congested or feel intense pain in your throat, see your doctor. Lots of rest, water and fruits/veggies! Get well soon!

probably a fall virus thats attacks the lymph nodes and throat area...if it persists i would have the Dr. do a throat culture to rule out Strep Throat.....which is treated with Anti-biotics.
