what are the chances to getting strep if you donthavecause in the symps it states the pus is on your tonsils?i have a red sore throat it hurts to swallow doctor said might be strep but going by symptoms it states pus goes on tonsils i dont have any and never had strep before what is the percentage you can get it with out tonsils

I've had a doctor tell me that some patients she has seen didn't have the white sores on the tonsils and had strep and some patients who had the white sores and didn't have strep. Its a funny (funny-strange, not haha) bacteria.
The only way to know is a strep culture. It could be viral however. Just get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids, it will help in either case.
If it is indeed strep, you will need to start and finish a course of antibiotics. Its very important that once you start the antibiotics you finish them as prescribed! Not finishing antibiotics can lead to strep bacteria that become resistant to treatment and are very very difficult to cure!
