very sore throat on one side?i have a bad sore throat on the left side of my throat. when i swallow it hurts bad. it's red around the tonsil area. but just because it is red and sore on one side does that mean i have to get my tonsils taken out??
this is the first time in a long time since i have had a sore throat. it satrted yesterday afternoon and it hurt but today it is worse. and there's like the mucus stuff in my throat. yes, i have allergies. and i have had a stuffy and runny noses lastely but they are gone now. but i am very worried. i dont want to get my tonsils taken out..i have generalized anxiety and i am starting to worry.

No could be an infection that can be cured with an antibiotic or maybe its just a virus take Ibuprofen for the pain gargle with salt water if you can!

It depends. Is this the first time you've had these symptoms? It's likely you have tonsilitis or strep, but you can probably just get antibiotics for it.
If it's a recurring problem, get your tonsils out... I had mine out when I was 21, and while it wasn't super fun, I haven't had to deal with the strep/tonsilitis thing any more.

you don't need your tonsils taken if there are antibiotics.
I usually take erythromycin and surprisingly, it's gone. I suffer years from tonsillitis, especially if I am about to get sick.
but now, I take FERN-C vitamins (anything of good quality vitamin c) daily and it prevents me from getting sick. it's my life. without it, I'll suffer more with flus

no you won't need your tonsils taken out. First off all the tonsils are there to help fight infection, they don't remove them as easily as they did before, they serve a purpose, the only time they remove them now is if its chronic like ongoing and repeated. No worries, you just have a touch of something, let your body fight it off and be healthy.
