tonsiliths/getting tonsils removed?yesterday i coughed up like 5 tonsil stones (or whatever you like to call them) and today my throat feels swollen and sore. i have a bit of a fever too and my mouth tastes really gross :(
i went to the doctor and she said its not strep but if it gets worse to come back. last year i got tonsilitis really bad and she said if that happens again i should just get my tonsils out
so i was wondering if tonsil stones occur more when you get sick? or do they cause you to get sick? or if theres any relation at all.
and if i actually got my tonsils out what could be bad about it? ive heard the older you get the more it hurts (im 17) so i kind of want to get it done asap. and does it cause your voice to change?

If your tonsils are giving you that much of an issue you should probably get them removed. I'm 16 and getting mine out tomorrow. The fact is if this is reoccurring it's going to be your best interest to go to an E.N.T and get their opinion. While im not familiar with your "tonsil stones" they don't sound like the most comforting experience. My doctor told me everyone has two options once they've been okayed for surgery: either you get things done now, or wait a few more years, deal with it, and it becomes rare with after teen adults.
