tonsil stones?

Hi,I did the following:
tonsil stones?I recently diagnosed myself with tonsil stones.. the little smelly white things that come out of your throat... well many people said that they had them, too and it is common. My question is how the h e l l do i get rid of them. I can feel them and taste them. Only one has dropped and now I have the same symptoms I had before that one came out- sore throat, bad taste in my mouth... I have tried q-tips, mouthwash, and I just can't bear it any longer. How do I get them out or prevent them from coming back?

Diagnosed yourself, did you doc?
How about you actually see a doctor about it? Or is that too obvious?

go to a dentist and maybe they can flush and suck those things up. I get them too i just keep gargling and what ever else works. let me know what you find out

They are not stones, they are INFECTED tonsils. The only way to get rid of them are with antibiotics. Or a tonsillectomy. I just got my tonsils out 5 months ago at 29, it sucked for 2 weeks, but now that that parts over I can say it was worth it.

I have been there. It sucks. I finally had to have my tonsils removed but one thing that worked is gargling with very warm salt water. Don't be stingy with the salt either and you may have to do it a few times. You can go to an ENT and they will remove them as well. Also, if you aren't prone to gagging, you can reach back there and get them yourself sometimes. Ugh. I feel for you...

They are called tonsiliths (tonsil stones). What to do: scrape them out with the back of along wooden q-tip, and rinse your mouth with mouth wash. The irritation will go away on its own. You can take Motrin or tylenol in the means time for sore throat pain unless you are allergic to these medications. how to prevent them: try chewing your food well and ingest with a little bit of liquid to prevent food to lodge into the tonsil pockets. There is no need for antibiotics or to remove your tonsils unless you are having very, and I mean very, frequent sore throats.

I have had this same problems for almost a year. The only real way you can get rid of them is to have your tonsils removed. There are many products out there that say they can help remove them, but the only way that is 100% is to have a tonsillectomy. I would have one, but I just don't care all that much. I don't get the stones all the time, maybe once a month, and I just bare with it. There are plenty of sites online about these, and also a yahoo group with people who have them and also have had a tonsillectomy because of them
