My 4 yr old has enlarged tonsils and adenoids should we do surgery?I want to find a natural solution if at all possible, these glands were given to us to protect against viruses etc, if they are enlarged there must be a reason. I don't want to just have them removed but rather find the cause of his overactive immune system. Any suggestions on natural herbal solutions or any other ideas.

I'd recommend you let a doctor do the surgery, but maybe that's just me.

Your son does not have a overactive immune system. The tonsils are doing their job and he is filling them up because the tonsils are full of infection.

Get them out! Or he will miss much school and be constantly sick once he starts going.

I had the same thing growing up and all it did was cause me to get more colds and tonsillitis. I was a very sickly child because I still had them in. My mom didn't want me to go through the surgery either but it got to the point I had a stuffy nose about 9 months out of the year. I finally got them both out when I was a teen ager. I wish I would have got them out way sooner though. Children recover better the younger they are.

I had my adenoids out when I was 6. 14 years later and many, many sick days I had my tonsils out. This made a huge difference in my health and quality of life. I would encourage you to listen to your doctor and save your 4 year old years of not feeling well.
