Trust me friend,I suffer the same!! the worst is when u get kind of choked becoz of the pain.
I would suggest you change your docter as when i went to my doc he was more than willing to take them out,but i am tomophoboc so i could not go for the surgery.
I gargled twice a day with plain hot water. Avoid spicy food, food which r too hot or too cold of course!
AND ASK FOR ANTIBIOTICS FROM THE DOC...IT HELPS!!
TAKE CARE,AND I WISH U EARLY RECOVERY!

If you have a PPO, go see an ENT on your own. I was having a horrible time with my tonsils over a period of 3 years, and my doctor refused to suggest it. I finally just made an appointment on my own ( I have PPO), and the ENT said they needed to come out. I had them out a few weeks later, and it was the best decision I ever made. If you have an HMO, perhaps you can change your primary. I would definitely force the issue.

I ahve tonsil issues as well - they really don't like to take out tonsils in adults, they have been doing new things will long term anti-biotics - and I mean LONG term - you really should see and ENT - ears, nose, and throat specialist. The first few times I had issues they gave me a Z-pak and it kept coming back - this past time that I had problems, a new Dr. put me on regular penicillian - that worked much better - I also find that I have problems at times of stress - I know the worst time ever - with that much puss I would think give you a good fever. Good luck and always get a second opinion when an answer doesn't seem to jive in your head
