I recently had a mri on my neck my neurologist told me my lymph nodes where swollen.?I recently had a mri on my neck my nurologist told me my lymph nodes where swollen that I might want to get a breast examine and to see my family doctor. I went to my family doctor and she did some blood work on me. It was normal. She thinks its a sinus infection. I asked her where my lymph nodes that were swollen was located she said below my ears. But heres the thing I told my neurologist I've always had large tonsils and snored alot. I also showed him a knot on my shoulder near my neck that has been there at least a year and a half (it start out tiny and now is about 3 cm long. He said thats your lymph nodes. He also said that the large tonsils and snoring had nothing to do with it. Should I get a second opinion? Has anyone had this same problem
I am 34 years old. The doctor I went to is just a family practice I have been to a couple of times. I guess she is just a GP.

Glad someone finally asked. YES get a second opinion. You're smart to question this, First of all, breast cancer cannot be detected with blood work. A person could have breast cancer and the blood work will still come back normal. There won't be elevated white cells because the immune system doesn't recognize cancer as a foreign body because the cells come from your own body. How old are you. Age a huge factor in determining the possibility of breast cancer. how does your dr. get a sinus infection from swollen lymph nodes on your shoulder and neck maybe, but it seems she was to quick to dismiss this. I think when your Neurologist suggested a breast exam, he/she meant a mammogram if breast cancer was suspected not blood work. Is your Dr that you saw a GYN? or GP? You more than likely have no cancer, but gee, please, do get another opinion. I feel like finally, someone listened to me. I'll be honest with you, if I hadn't gotten a second opinion, I might not be here today to answer your question. God bless and I hope all goes well for you. I also hope you get a doctor who knows what the heck they're doing. Blessings
