I Often find nasal drainage/food particles stuck in the palatine tonsils causing bad breath. Is this normal?

I Often find nasal drainage/food particles stuck in the palatine tonsils causing bad breath. Is this normal?I'm in my thirties and still have adenoid tonsils / tissue present. I have to use q-tips to remove the sticky substance. Gargling does not help. I'm considering buying a water pick to help remove the build-up which is becoming a daily thing. Perhaps I should consider having my tonsils removed...

I had that problem once in a while til I was 21 when I finally had em (tonsils) out. it changed my life for the better

you can find a DR to do this for you.. be persistent

also simple expectorant and drinking water with lots of lemon jiuce helps thin the phlegm.

Please go to the doctor. Normally phlegm and other fluids do not collect on the palatine tonsils unless there is some type of infection. An antibiotic may clear up the issue for you, or your doctor might want to remove them. But at 30ish, the doc may want to avoid that surgery.

Try gargling very salty water in the meantime.

Go to the doctor. Maybe you have an infection of some kind that needs to be treated. I'd still gargle with salt water, especially before going to bed. Why don't you try spraying your nose with saline spray. The salt kills germs. It's called Ocean or you can get the store brand. It's cheap and you can use it all the time without causing any problems.

Is it normal? No. But it's not unusual. They are called tonsiliths, or tonsil stones.
