Get answers from millions of real people.?i had an acute exudative tonsillitis that is why i took the antibiotics as well as taking the pill. the antibiotics are cefuroxime zegen and cefuroxime altacef. omephron too for hyper. paracetamol for fever. i wanted to know if it might stop the diane35 from working properly as contraceptive during the 1st wk of the pack. pls ineed an answer that is so reliable. tnx

Oral contraceptive failure may occur with antibiotic therapy. For maximal protection, additional non-hormonal contraception should be recommended for the duration of antibiotic therapy and for seven days afterwards.
