Does exposure to extreme heat of the sun, eating sweets, and drinking cold water causes tonsillitis?I am forty seven years old. During my teenage days i was already suffering for tonsillitis and no recurrence after several years (means 20 years without tonsillitis).
In June 2008, my tonsils started swelling again. With the help of antibiotics i got relief. Last August 12, I worked under the heat of the sun for 10 minutes. Temperature was too hot. The following day I got tonsillitis again. Up to this writing date (16th August), I am still suffering for pain and difficulty in swallowing.
Whenever i am exposed to extreme heat of the sun or drinking cold water i got tonsillitis.
Please advice.

Tonsillitis is caused by a bacterial infection, not sun, sweets or cold water. You must be exposed to someone with the illness. It is treated with prescription antibiotics.
