Do the tonsils serve a purpose to the body?Right now I have a sore throat and I am thinking about having them removed one day. If you remove them can you still have a sore throat?

You can't get them removed just optionally they don't cause your sore throat bacteria and infection do. Tonsils are sensitive to obstructive objects.

They are lymphatic tissue and they trap germs before you inhale them.
You can still get sore throats after, my daughter had them out and still gets sore throats.

The tonsils are now recognized as defending the body against infections that would otherwise invade it. They are composed of lymphoid tissue, which forms the white blood cells called lymphocytes, the cells that attack germs in the body. That harm can result from their unnecessary removal is becoming more and more evident. Thus it has been found that there is a much higher ratio of multiple sclerosis in persons who had their tonsils removed than among those of their relatives who did not have their tonsils removed. Also it has been observed that, among children who have had their tonsils removed, there is a higher proportion of polio than among children who were not deprived of their tonsils
also fort since your finking of having your removed i might add that i've had mine taken out last december.
i'm sure people will tell you it doesnt hurt.like h*ll they are not telling the truth. it Hurts, and no adays we an't aloud to eat ice cream beccuase that causes infections!
instead after the removal were forced to eat TOAST.yep.
BUT
the removal was well worth the pain...i havn't had any kind of infection in my thruogh at all.
