can u get strep throat without tonsils?my husband was told as a child when he had his tonsils out that he would never have strep throat again. I just got strep and now his throat is starting to hurt. Is it possible that he has strep now, too?

You don't get tonsillitis without tonsils obviously but strep yes, that is just a bacteria. You can actually get strep anywhere on the body. Impetigo is caused by strep.

"can u get strep throat without tonsils?" -- Absolutely. A tonsillectomy does NOT render one immune to it. Your husband was lied to and perhaps inadvertently.

yes. strep bacteria can be in your throat. if that was true then it would be called strep tonsils not strep throat. but removing the tonsils does reduce further chances.
