Can having enlarged tonsils and adenoids affect brain function and cause learning disabilities?I have a learning disability but they have a really hard time trying to desifer what type it is, I usually cant focus but I'm not ADD, and I'm very slow in understanding. I was recenly refered to an ENT doctor and he told me that my tonsils and adenoids were enlarged and it's a good idea to have them removed (I went to an ENT when I was 5 and they said the same thing but we didnt have them removed at the time, I was struggling in school then too) , he said after the serjury I'll be more active a focused. My question is:
1.) could my enlarged tonsils and adenoids be the cause of my learning disability?
2.) If so how does it affect the brain?

Yes, it causes Sleep Ampnea (sp)-When you stop breathing for a few seconds in your sleep) I had my tonsils removed because if I didnt my Dr. said some problems could be learning disablities along with some serious health risk! Get them out! you will sleep better too!
It affects the brain because when you sleep for a short perios of time oxygen is deprived from your brain!
