why do I have holes in my tonsil?I felt pain in my left tonsil earlier today so I looked at it in the mirror and I have about three somewhat large holes (about the size of a lower case "o"). They kind of look like craters and they don't appear to be red or inflamed or have anything inside them (and they don't smell bad). Also, they didn't used to be there (they must have just appeared in the last week or so) and I don't have any on my right tonsil.
Wow
Everyone has holes in their tonsils.
Maybe they hurt because you are geting sick.

I had very bad sore throats growing up and my tonsils did what they were designed to do- fight infection. I also have small craters and you will most likely get what is called tonsil rocks. Sounds crazy but if you gently push your tonsil with a q-tip it may expel a white cauliflower looking "rock". Its smelly, a cause of bad breath unfortunately. But I have very good oral Hygiene and it still happens. Mostly when you have a cold or sinuses. Too much info?
