Removing Tonsil Stones? My eighteen year old sister has tonsil stones that come and go. They've never really bothered her, but now she has one that is much bigger than the other ones she has gotten and it's starting to be really uncomfortable for her. She says it feels like something is stuck in her throat. She can see it, but she has a very sensitive gag reflex, so using her finger or a qtip to get it out doesn't work. Does anyone have any other suggestions for effectively removing one without stimulating the gag reflex?
I appreciate everyone's input, but to those who have never heard of tonsil stones-they do exist, they're not serious, and she already has been checked out by a doc, that's how she got this diagnosis. Google it, you'll see what they are.

I have never heard of "tonsil stones" just tonsils that are causing problems & need to be removed.

OMG! I hate those smelly nasty things! Maybe she can try gargling with warm water or something... Ive heard they need to be removed sometimes... Just an fyi if she had her tonsils removed the stones would never return - I doubt they'd remove 'em electively tho.

my daughter has them too....very annoying and smelly!! She uses a Q-tip to push on it and they always come out like that.

Never in my entire life have I ever heard of "tonsil stones". If yoru sister has any kind of growth on her tonsils, it should be reported to a Dr.
